At the most recent general meeting of the Futouris sustainability initiative, the existing members of the board were confirmed in their positions and strengthened by Laura Steden, Director Corporate Responsibility at DERTOUR Group. The Futouris Scientific Advisory Board also has two new members - Prof. Dr. Nicole Häusler and Prof. Dr. Kerstin Heuwinkel.
At this year’s Futouris General Assembly in Berlin, the agenda included not only a report on projects and the association’s work in 2023, but also the election of the new Board of Directors. The dedicated members of the existing Futouris Board stood for re-election and were unanimously re-elected.
Lucienne Damm, Head of Sustainability at TUI Cruises, is delighted about the extension of her term of office as Chairwoman of the Board: “Futouris is very close to my heart. For over 15 years, Futouris has been a strong community of tourism stakeholders who are actively committed to sustainable tourism. I myself have been an enthusiastic member for over 12 years with TUI Cruises. I am delighted to be able to continue making my contribution to tackling important challenges such as climate and biodiversity protection and developing practical solutions.”
Ralf Hieke, owner of Reisebüro Strier and Fairweg.de and Vice President of the German Travel Association, will continue to stand by her side as her deputy. Futouris Treasurer Friederike Grupp, Head of Sustainability at Hotelplan Group, as well as board members Thomas Bohlander, Managing Director of Gebeco, Ingo Lies, owner of Chamäleon Reisen, and Florian Käufer, Managing Director of TFC Airlebnis Reise und Event, were also confirmed in their positions.
Laura Steden, Director Corporate Responsibility at DERTOUR Group, is a new member of the Futouris Board. DERTOUR Group has been a committed member of Futouris since 2015 and plays a key role in driving forward the implementation of joint projects relating to climate-conscious travel and social responsibility in the supply chain. Laura Steden is looking forward to her new role at Futouris: “I would like to thank the members very much for their trust. I am very pleased to be able to participate in the Futouris Board and to contribute my experience to the project work to create more sustainable offers and raise customer awareness. Only together can we make the future of the travel industry more sustainable!”
To ensure the high sustainability standards in the Futouris projects, the initiative is supported by international scientists in an honorary advisory board. The Futouris Science Advisory Board now has two renowned new members: Prof. Dr. Nicole Häusler and Prof. Dr. Kerstin Heuwinkel.
Prof. Dr. Nicole Häusler has been working for over 25 years as a consultant and trainer for sustainable tourism with a regional focus on Asia. She is an honorary professor for culture and sustainable development at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and holds a deputy professorship in destination management.
Prof. Dr. Kerstin Heuwinkel has been Professor of International Tourism Management at htw saar since 2005 with a focus on tourism sociology. Her current research focuses on responsible tourism with a focus on gender equality and community-based tourism. Her interdisciplinary background, in particular the combination of sociology and information science, forms the basis for her research.
Futouris is delighted about the prestigious addition and would like to thank the board members and the scientific advisory board for their great commitment and voluntary support.
